A symposium on the World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, a major event of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, was successfully held in Beijing on Jan 10. 

Nearly 40 representatives from organizations whose projects have been selected or nominated for the 2022 World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, attended the meeting. Among the organizations are world famous telecommunication and internet companies such as China Telecom, China Unicom, Qualcomm, Ericsson, Kaspersky, Arm China, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Ant Group, Qi-Anxin, and Zhongke Ruijian, as well as universities and research institutions, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Zhijiang Lab, and Peng Cheng Laboratory.

Officials from the WIC's Secretariat briefed the attendees on general information about the WIC international organization such as its international orientation, organizational structure, major events, and membership benefits. They also summarized the characteristics of the projects selected in the World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements.

The Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements has been held for seven consecutive years since 2016.

Over those seven years, the event has received more than 3,000 submissions from over 20 countries and regions. The selected achievements are mainly in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing, high-end chips and processors, network security, and 5G and 6G, which is highly consistent with the trending topics and breakthroughs in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The attendees noted that the release for the World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, has seen growing recognition at home and abroad and received more attention from relevant industries over the years, and the event has been well organized. They shared their experience in conducting technological innovations and submitting their achievements to the event, and held in-depth exchanges on issues such as boosting influence and effectiveness, while constantly enriching contents of the release ceremony, and facilitating commercialization of the achievements.

They also offered specific comments and suggestions in regard to exploring a way to connect the national evaluation mechanisms for scientific and technological innovations with the release event, increasing international and diversified publicity measures, giving more play to relevant industries, and deepening exchanges and cooperation in specific areas. They also shared some ideas on optimizing the submission procedures and systems of the event. 

The symposium was supported by the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Zhongke Ruijian Technology Co., Ltd., whose submission was selected in the 2022 World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements. Their achievement, titled “Digital Content Forgery Detection System and Equipment", fully demonstrates the idea of “making the world more credible” in the science and technology sector.
